We went on a thursday (or maybe a wednesday) and they had great live jazz to go along with fantastic food. Try the cajun pasta. Wait staff was adequate. Best place my wife and I ate dinner at on St. Croix. Price was reasonable (about $100 including a few drinks).

I am guessing the rave review I saw here was written by the owner or a friend. The horses are pretty to look at but old and bit weathered. The accomodations were spartan and the food was not very good for the price. The staff (if you can call the two people we met staff) was helpful (when you could find them). If you plan to stay on the west side of the island (if you want luxury you want the east side or north shore) then stay at "cottages" or the one right next to it.

Don’t let the staged web site photos fool you. This place is involved in a very slow renovation, and there’s only a few adequate rooms that are marginal.
The window AC units barely cool the rooms. Also, there are no screens on the rusty sliders, so you’re restricted to the semi-conditioned air and most doors, windows, etc. are poorly installed - or will just fall off in your hands if not careful.
Mosquitos are vicious here, and will haunt you all night long as they creep between the many gaps to find you. It’s very remote here, so the cell phone reception is non-existent. However, the Internet connection is strong, so have your Skype account charged up.
The restaurant is pricy, and you may be the only people there with the crashing waves to one side and the rowdy dice slammers to the other at the bar.
The owners live on the mainland, so they assigned their lazy daughter to manage the place. It's a great call if you desire a raucous, hootin’ & hollerin’ party atmosphere most days at odd hours with groupies hanging out and drinking with the manager. Don’t expect any standard professional hospitality or common courtesy, either. She is careless, and others in the business on St. Croix will verify that.
Obviously, I do not recommend it.

Villa Madeleine Resort offered a great view, great location, and great accommodations. We stayed in the Caribe villa at Villa Madeleine, and we have great memories.
Anne, thanks for working with us on our reservation. You were great, too.

My best friend and I travel to St. Croix several times a year. We usually stay at my friend’s condo, but the condo was not available, so we had to look elsewhere.
Having grown up on the island, I ended up looking into the bigger, well known hotels. I then decided to call Hibiscus, because I had been to H2O (the hotel restaurant) on my last visit, and thought it would be neat to stay at a smaller boutique hotel with a great restaurant.
I called to check availability and rates. Lucinda (front desk) was so helpful and warm from the start, I booked immediately. When we arrived at Hibiscus, we were greeted by Rashema and Marc at the front desk. They were both professional and helpful. The staff here, really makes you feel like you are home away from home.
When we checked into our room, it was clean and well taken care of. We arrived a month after Hurricane Omar, and they had really taken care of clean-up of the property.
During our stay, we dined at the H2O restaurant, not because of the convenience, but because of the great staff and quality food. We also had the pleasure of meeting John, the owner of the hotel, and enjoyed his company and conversation.
I could go on forever about this experience! All and all, I highly recommend Hibiscus! If you want to experience true island charm, this is it! They have a lovely restaurant and are in a great location.

Don't leave St. Croix without eating here. The food was fresh and tasty, and is beautifully presented. The service was adequate, and the decor was pleasant. The fact that this was a little off the beaten track made this a winner.

The off season rate here was as high as any hotel around. However, my room was very uncomfortable. The bed was great, though.
Also, the sliding doors to the balcony wouldn't close completely, and the handle was missing (which left a hole for mosquitos to enter). The window AC unit was very loud, and kept the room only so-so cool. The kitchen was dark and sticky, and the dishes were not clean.
The manager simply said they were in the process of renovation. I couldn't possibly enjoy the setting in such a tacky room. I wish I had taken pictures.

My boyfriend and I ate here a few weeks ago. We both had two Sprites each, and it costed us $10! Ugh! That would buy ten two-liters back home! I couldn't believe they charged for refills, either.
The food was okay, but nothing wonderful! I wouldn't go back. There are way too many great local and fun places to eat on St. Croix.

The Divi is amazing! The beach is beautiful, and there are beautiful mountains everywhere on this side of the island.
We stayed in Christiansted the first night at Sugar Beach. When we checked out and came to the Divi, I thought I had died and went to heaven. Sugar Beach was a dump in the middle of the projects compared to the Divi.
Yes, the Divi is about 15-minutes out on the east side of the island. However, just rent a car, and you will feel like you are in paradise at the Divi.
Also, there were some great restaurants on that side of St. Croix - Cheeseburger in Paradise, East End Pizza, Starlite Grille, Chicken Charlies, and a few delis as well.
The Divi was clean and well kept. They had nice staff, with friendly bartenders, too. We were here during hurricane Omar, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the way the Divi handled things.
I will definitely go back to the Divi. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in St. Croix! Stay at the Divi, rent a car, and explore St. Croix. You will love it!

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night a few weeks ago. We were supposed to stay eight days, but checked out as soon as we could.
The office was closed when we arrived, or we would have just left immediately. The beach was not pretty (compared to the gorgeous beaches around the island). Also, the decor looked old and outdated, and there were stains on our sheets and curtains.
When we asked to check out, no one even asked us why we were leaving seven days early! Instead, while I was trying to pay for the one night, they went behind my back and charged my debit card for three nights stay.
My travel agent called the next morning, and after two days of talking to them, convinced them to give me one nights credit on my debit card. They still never asked why we checked out. Apparently they don't care to better their motel.
I was very unhappy with this place, the location, the beach, and the very dishonest and uncaring staff. I will never visit Sugar Beach again, and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The east end of the island is beautiful, and the beaches are amazing. It's paradise! Don't settle for this place, though, check around.

I love Cottages by the Sea. My husband and I stay each and every time we go - which is every year. My husband is a native, and Cottages is so convenient for us to visit with relatives.
The staff is wonderful, and always eager to help. Paul is the best host, and I consider him a friend. I can't wait to go back.

Simone and Sheryl are the best hosts! We were looking for a relaxing place, and found it at Sand Castle on the Beach.
The hotel is clean, and the staff is warm. The food is awesome - though the complimentary continental breakfast could use some more options.
Pay the extra for a larger room, because they have kitchens. I also recommend a rental car if you want to get to Christiansted for a night out (as Frederiksted doesn't have as many options and the restaurant is closed on Tues/Wed.).

We, a group of Navy divers from Underwater Construction Team One, stayed here and used it for our lodging, and base of operations. We were working on a Navy Project offshore of Sandy Point.
We supplied the Plantation with Queen Conch, and went with them on their fresh seafood trips. We were treated very well the whole time. I want to bring my wife back to enjoy the hospitality of Sprat Hall.

Our family had a wonderful week at Royal Palms Villa. The view from the pool and covered veranda were lovely. A couple of sand crabs came out to play with us while we were at the pool.
We felt at home with the spacious, well stocked kitchen that made it easy to prepare some meals in the villa. The separate bedrooms afforded us the opportunity to have quiet time and solitude when desired. The great room allowed for the family to gather and enjoy games, TV and reading.
The nearby beach at Buccaneer Bay was handy for a dip in the ocean, although the pool was so handy at the villa, we often just stayed there for our swimming enjoyment.
We saw a lot of lizards. The garden outside the lanai was a beautiful backdrop for photos. The whole place was so pretty, we decided to make a little video tour to remember it by.

The cottages are historic. They were originally part of a plantation, and have been renovated.
The nights were fantastic. The stars were out and visible with the windows open at night. We could also hear the surf coming in, and the wild rooster in the morning.
The staff at the bar was friendly and fun, always making sure that we were good for food or drink. They were very helpful.
The dive shop was good. I did a discovery dive while here, and the instructor was very safety oriented.
I love that once you are here, if you don't want - you don't have to drive anywhere else. If you choose, there are three other bars and choices for entertainment. However, the live entertainment at Full Moon is enough, and the nightly specials are very good, too.

My wife and I stayed here for six days, and wanted to stay forever.
Our first three days we simply stayed at cottages, and ate our meals next door at the fabulous restaurant. The final three days we rented a car and enjoyed the rest of the island.
The only place better to snorkel is Buck Island, and nowhere else on the island did we find a more pleasant, laid back atmosphere. That is quite a statement since everywhere we went, the people were on "island time".
Paul was a wonderful host who bent over backwards to take of everything we could have possibly needed.
If you want a peaceful, beautiful, non-commercialized get away, this is the place for you (and us!).

Full Moon Beach Bar and Cottages was awesome! After traveling the USVI and BVI over the past 18 years, this was a place where I felt at home.
I really didn't know what to expect, but what I found was this: a food special every night, from all you can eat crab legs to all you can eat shrimp.
They also had a white sandy beach with true locals - and not the tourist trap type location.
The cottage was not brand new by any means. However, it was clean, slept four comfortably, had super hot water, and was within walking distance to restaurants, bars and the beach.
Because the place was small, the owner asked that guests conserve water - but use what you need. Linens were changed out every three days - versus every day - which I don't mind at all. More people should attempt to not waste water on a island.
In addition, the new onsite owner was full of information about places to go and things to do. That would be great if you want to cruise the island, but I just wanted a place to kick back without having to think too much.
The unique cottage was renovated from old ruins of a sugar plantation that dates back some 150 years - if not older. I highly recommend this cottage for the person or couple who enjoys really relaxing while having great food, good diving and a killer beach within a minutes walk.
