We came here for a two-week stay, and it was outstanding!
The location of Lions Dive was ideal. It only took five minutes with the free shuttle bus of the hotel to go to the centre of Willemstad. This shuttle bus also picked guests up and brought them back to the hotel.
The Sea Aquarium was next to the hotel, which was free for hotel guests. The private beach of the hotel was magnificent. The towel service was ideal, this way you don’t have to bring your own towels with you.
Lions Dive and Beach Resort had new rooms at the beach. We stayed in a new apartment. This apartment was really fantastic! The view from the balcony was outstanding. Every morning, we could see the peaceful sea and the beautiful beach. Everything we would want to have, we had in this apartment!
The staff was so friendly! When we came here, the staff of the front office welcomed us. The housekeeping ladies were also so nice to us. They always said hello to us.
Restaurant Nemo was an excellent fine dining restaurant. The price and quality of the food were very good!
We went diving for three days at the Lions Dive and Beach Resort dive school Ocean Encounters. The dive staff was very skilled and friendly. It was so nice that this dive school was located at Lions Dive. This way we didn’t have to travel before we could go diving!
All with all, my experience at Lions Dive was really fantastic! This hotel had a very relaxing atmosphere, and it was really "the natural place to stay” when you visit ‘Dushi Korsow’!

We had a fabulous stay at Lions Dive.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly, our room was comfy and we had a great ocean view. The Rumours restaurant had great daily specials for lunch and dinner so the menu did not get boring. The dive shop was very nice and top notch with staff and equipment.
We met several other couples from Holland staying at the hotel and went diving with them around the island and had drinks together at night on the pool deck with a romantic ocean view.
Sunday was live music and it was packed with hotel guests and locals - it was fun to watch from our balcony. We easily heard our TV over it, and it promptly stopped at 9:30 pm.
The beach grounds were quite nice. There were palm trees and several thatched roof cabanas to sit under with nice relaxing furniture everywhere to use.
If you're into diving and beach relaxing, you will like it without question. If you want major night life, this ain't the place! |

We visited Curacao in July 2004 and found out about this hotel through the Internet. As stated before, the hotel was very peaceful and had beautiful, well-kept gardens. The private beach had its own security guard present during the day, so you could easily go swimming and leave your belongings at the lounge chair.
The staff at the hotel was very helpful and the people at the dive center were extremely skilled and service-oriented. The waitresses at the hotel restaurant were too busy sometimes just talking to themselves - but so was the case in majority of the restaurants in the island!
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Curacao for diving or just to relax. Although the hotel was 15 minutes from the city center, the free shuttle service worked really well. The buses were really cheap, although the rate changed constantly.
If ever we will return to Curacao, we will definitely book this hotel again! |

It was an okay place, except for snorkeling. Visited: May 2002 |

We like a place where, after breakfast, we can walk to the beach and snorkel. This place was not it. One gets clear water and excellent snorkeling at a "natural beach." Lions Dive was a man-made beach.
We rented a car and drove to Porto Marie--they offered great snorkeling. The Sea-Aquarium was fascinating and free, if you stayed at Lions Dive. We walked around there for hours on three separate days.
Yes, the music was loud. So, after 10:00 p.m., I phoned the front desk and asked if they could have the restaurant lower the volume. They had good food, but the waitresses seemed to pay more attention to the people at the bar.
It was easy to strike up a conversation with the other guests. And yes, families did bring children here, but small children do go to sleep early. However, that means they wake up early, too. |

A low-key, dive oriented resort with lush tropical grounds. Visited: March 2002 |

We recently completed a week-long stay at the Lions Dive Hotel and determined that it may be one of the best options on Curacao.
They have done a really nice job with landscaping the property and adding palm and coconut trees to the beach for much-needed shade from the sun. Curacao is a scrubby, arid island so this resort is a welcome reprive from the landscape.
The resort is predominately Dutch, so if you are an American who likes to travel and meet other couples, you may be disappointed here. The guests and the staff keep very much to themselves and we literally did not meet one other couple the entire week predominately due to the language barrier.
Speaking of the staff, the front desk and housekeeping staff are very helpful and most friendly. The restaurant could use a little more work on the service end. There were several instances where our evening servers ignored us while they hung around chatting with the other servers.
This was the first Caribbean resort that we have visited that is 'family friendly' and this can make a difference if you are in the mood for a quiet getaway. Our balcony overlooked the pool and we were awakened several mornings by screeching children. There were very few times we could actually sit by the pool in quiet.
Perhaps the hotel can make it more clear on their web site that it is a family friendly resort and that many guests bring their children--especially since some couples are looking for a romantic getaway without their children.
Sunday nights the resort has a band playing by the pool for three hours and many locals come to hear the music. We were looking forward to the band until they started playing. The volume was SO loud on the bass that we could literally feel our hearts thumping in our chests with the beat. Sunday may be a good night to plan dinner out elsewhere. Even with our balcony doors closed, we couldn't hear ourselves talk!
The hotel has one of the nicest beaches on the island and it is adjacent to the Seaquarium Beach, giving you a nice long beach for walking with several restaurant and bar options. It also has a protected lagoon-type swim area that is calm for swimming (the Curacao currents are swift and the surf is much rougher than many Caribbean islands--there are constant strong winds).
Curacao doesn't have a tremendous number of lodging options. If you are looking for a smaller-scale hotel that is more intimate than the mega-Casino type hotels, the Lion's Dive is a good choice. The grounds and beach are very picturesque and it is a good value for your money--especially in high season when some resorts have ridiculously high prices. |
